Subject:

The Nuclear Professional I learned a couple of interesting things whilst reading the latest "The Nuclear Professional."

1) Apparently there is a software defect in the Leading Edge Flowmeter system (manufactured by Caldon, Inc?) calculation, as identified in INPO's (OE) database--which means it affects every plant performing an upgrade to this system (the article says ten plants so far); and,
2) North Anna has a new classroom training tool (i.e., an electronic white board) that not only connects to the plant computer system, but it also connects to the Internet (e.g., INPO, NRC, EPRI, NEI), and on-site databases containing controlled documents (such as plant drawings and all sorts of procedures--

abnormal, emergency, etc). So, students in the classroom can obtain plant data in real time, surf the INPO site for "operating experience" (does that experience include hacking of NPP networks?), and perform virtual tours of the North Anna plant.

If you are interested in reading these articles for yourself, let me know and I will get you copies. (They even have plant points of contact.)

And if you happen to have any information on item 1, above, would you please send it to me? I'd be interested in learning the particulars.

Roman
