MAINTENANCE OF REFERENCE MATERIALS RELATED TO THE REVIEW OF THE VOGTLE ELECTRIC GENERATING PLANT UNITS 1 AND 2 LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATION AT THE BURKE COUNTRY LIBRARY
Dear Ms. Sikes:
This letter is a follow-up to our conversation on June 11, 2007, concerning the maintenance of relevant documents by your library. These documents are related to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staffs review of the application from Southern Nuclear Operating Company for renewal of the operating license for Vogtle Electric Generating Plant Units 1 and 2 (VEGP) for an additional 20 years. The application was received by the NRC on June 29, 2007.
The NRC staff appreciates your willingness to assist the public in participating in the license renewal environmental review process. As discussed, your support would consist of providing approximately two feet of shelf space in your reference section, which would be used for making documents related to the NRC staffs environmental review available to the public. We will place the Burke County Library on our distribution list for documents and notices related to the review of the VEGP application. After the application review process is completed in approximately two years, you may dispose of these documents.
A paper copy of the application is enclosed. An electronic version will also be made available at the NRCs license renewal website, accessible at http://www.nrc.gov/reators/operating/licensing/renewal/applications/vogtle/html.
