Dear Mr. Howland:
Enclosed please find the Site Characterization Status Report (Status Report) prepared for the Yankee Nuclear Power Station (YNPS) located in Rowe, Massachusetts. The Status Report is designed to inform interested stakeholders on the progress of site characterization efforts. results obtained and next steps planned toward completing a comprehensive site-wide environmental quality assessment.
This Status Report is a companion to our Baseline Environmental Report' and summarizes the methods and results obtained from assessment of soil, groundwater, and sediment quality completed between June 2003 and March 2004. The data was collected in accordance with the YNPS Quality Assurance Project Plan (QAPP) for Site Closure. The QAPP defines Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) procedures to be performed in support of non-radiological environmental site closure activities at YNPS. Copies of the QAPP will be made available upon request.
