IPEC status report for May 8 Please see attached file://C:\\temp\\GW}00002.HTM 5/21/2007

Sntertgy Indian Point Energy Center Status Report May 8, 2007 Operational Status Indian Point Unit 3 returned to service on May 3 at 12:50 p.m. and is operating at 100 percent power. The unit has been online for 6 days Indian Point 2 was unaffected by the shutdown and is operating at full power and has been online for 69 days Low Levels of Tritium Found in Sewage Line Entergy reported to the Village of Buchanan today that a recent sample drawn from a lift station on sile showed very low levels of tritium. The company reported 8,000 pCi/L in the April 30 sample, which is well below the EPA drinking water standard of 20,000 pCi/L and the reporting level to the Village of 10,000,000 pCi/L. This level of tritium poses no health or safety threat to workers or the general public.

The sewage lines on site connect to the sewage lines for the Village of Buchanan.

There are radiation monitors in the lines at Indian Point that will detect plant isotopes as well as medically administered isotopes such as Iodine. However, since tritium is a very weak beta emitter, it will not be detected by the radiation monitors.

Sampling sewage directly is a new environmental monitoring procedure for Entergy and Indian Point that began last fall. The Chemistry department is establishing baseline levels.

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission and local officials were notified of the sample result.

Entergy Continues Siren Tests in Westchester Entergy plans to activate certain individual sirens in its new Indian Point emergency alert system in Westchester County from May 7 to May 10. Entergy has selected seven (7) sirens in the new system for this test. Each test siren will sound twice at full volume for approximately 4 minutes. One sounding will be in the morning between 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. The second sounding will occur between 1 p.m.

and 3 p.m.

The sirens selected for this test are located in Croton-on-Hudson, Cortlandt, Yorktown and Buchanan. Public officials, critical facilities, residences and

Enterdy businesses in those areas will be notified of the tests by phone before the sirens sound.

NO RESPONSE ON THE PART OF THE PUBLIC IS NECESSARY DURING THESE SIREN SOUNDINGS.

The new sirens have a sound that is different form the current sirens. In an actual emergency, all the current sirens would sound at full volume for four minutes.

For additional information on this siren test, visit wwwsafesecurevital.org Information on Indian Point emergency planning is on the New York State Emergency Management Office website--http://iic.semo.state.ny.us Educational Outreach Entergy Nuclear Northeast provides customized outreach education programs for schools, youth groups, and civic organizations. The topics we cover include Emergency Planning, Understanding Radiation, Nuclear Fuel and a general overview of the operations of Indian Point Energy Center.
