Indian Point Government to Government Meeting Good Afternoon:
I have contacted most of you this afternoon to provide a heads up on a meeting that NRC, in conjunction with the Department of Homeland Security, is hosting related to Indian Point.
On March 20, from 0800-1200, we will host a closed, government-to-government meeting for elected State officials and representatives of selected State offices to discuss general Indian point plant performance and to provide a general overview of the NRC's license renewal evaluation process.
Following presentations on these topics, we will host a Posterboard session where NRC and DHS staff will be prepared to answer questions on a number of other topics of interest, such as groundwater contamination, security, and emergency preparedness.
We will send an invitation to the heads of your agencies (NYSERDA, NYDPS, NYDHS, NYDEC, NYDOH, NYSEMO, and the NY State Dept), and invite them to send a representative to this meeting. It will be held at the Edith Macy Conference Center in Briarcliff Manor, New York.
We expect to send the invitations tomorrow. I will also fax them to you so that you may consider the invitation as soon as possible, since the meting is in less than 3 weeks.
