  • Every decision and activity is based on safety

- Nuclear, industrial (worker) & public

  • Ginnas 2006 safety performance

- Our nuclear safety measurement of exposure is among the best 10%

in our industry

- We had only one OSHA recordable injured worker in 2006

- We increased our emergency preparedness drill frequency for public safety readiness from one to four times per year

- We increased the number of emergency preparedness duty teams from three to four for increased depth

- Area for improvement Six OSHAs for contract workers during our refueling outage

4 Ginna 2006 Performance

  • A year of safe and reliable operations

- Ginna operated all of 2006 without an unplanned shutdown Only shutdown for our refueling outage

- Ginna implemented a very successful refueling outage in the fall Installed a new turbine

- Ginna achieved its planned 16.8% extended power uprate Over two years of planning and engineering Succeeded with a rigorous regulatory application process Implementation smooth

  • Investing in our plant

- $2M Emergency Operations Facility in Macedon

- $4M Administration Building at the plant (our work hub)

- $43M extended power uprate (16.8% more electricity)

- $1.6M facility improvements at the plant in 06

- $3M budgeted for 2007 Work and training facilities for plant workers

- $23M dry spent fuel storage initiative Allows Ginna to operate beyond 2009

  • Investing in our people

- Knowledge transfer and retention

- $10M, three year procedure upgrade to better guide human performance

- Preparing Ginna for an increasingly mobile workforce

6 Ginna Regulatory Performance

  • Ginna shares the NRCs safety goals

- Constantly engaged with the NRC

- Understand their concerns and enter them into our corrective actions program

- All of these findings fit within our focus areas Human performance Self-assessment Corrective action program Training to improve performance

  • We understand and embrace our improvement opportunities

- We work in an atmosphere of continuous improvement

- We continue to address challenges and make Ginna a better plant

7 Ginnas Commitment to Public Safety

  • Emergency Response (EP) Program

- Making aggressive improvements New facilities, more drills, better team depth

  • EP will be shown as Degraded in next NRC report

- One Performance Indicator dropped below normal threshold

- Resulted from training many people in new positions

- Change was part of upgrade that added Operators and technicians on each shift

- New team members were all trained and evaluated during their qualification, but are shown as not having had a recent drill

- Unique circumstance. Indicator will return to top band in next report
