OF THE APRIL 11, 2007, PUBLIC MEETING TO DISCUSS THE PALISADES END-OF-CYCLE PLANT PERFORMANCE ASSESSMENT On April 11 2007, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) held a public meeting at Lake Michigan College in South Haven, Michigan. The meeting was between NRC Region III management and Entergy Nuclear Operations Inc. (Entergy) management to discuss the NRCs assessment of Palisades safety performance for the period from January 1 through December 31, 2006. The meeting notice and NRC presentation can be found in the Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) as ML070870522 and ML070940496, respectively. A list of principal NRC and licensee meeting participants can be found in the attached Enclosure.
The NRC began the meeting with an overview of the NRCs Reactor Oversight Program (ROP),
national ROP results, and the Action Matrix in general. This was followed by a discussion of the NRCs assessment of Palisades performance in calendar year 2006, which was documented in the March 2, 2007, end-of-cycle assessment letter. As part of this regulatory performance meeting, Entergy briefly responded to the NRCs assessment. At the end of the meeting, members of the public were given the opportunity to ask questions of NRC officials and Entergy representatives.
