Dear Mr. Van Middlesworth:

By "L-2006-118, 60-Day Response to NRC Generic Letter 2006-03, Potentially Nonconforming Hemyc and MT [[Topic" contains a listed "[" character as part of the property label and has therefore been classified as invalid. Configurations.|letter dated June 9, 2006]], you responded to Generic Letter 2006-03, Potentially Nonconforming Hemyc and MT Fire Barrier Configurations. Under oath or affirmation in your "L-2006-118, 60-Day Response to NRC Generic Letter 2006-03, Potentially Nonconforming Hemyc and MT [[Topic" contains a listed "[" character as part of the property label and has therefore been classified as invalid. Configurations.|June 9, 2006 letter]], you have stated that your nuclear power plant does not rely on either the Hemyc or MT fire barrier system. You have also submitted supplemental documentation in a letter dated May 15, 1997, to clarify that another 1 or 3-hour fire barrier material that separates redundant safe shutdown trains located within the same fire area has been designed and installed in accordance with current Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) guidance. Based on your response, the basis for stating that this other fire barrier material has been designed and installed in accordance with NRC guidance should be maintained on site and will be subject to inspection during the normal NRC inspection process.

If you have any questions regarding this response, please contact me.

Sincerely,

/RA/
