RAI 3.6.2.2-N-08-2 Electrical components for the Vernon Hydroelectric Station (VHS) include 2 black-start turbinegenerators, cables and buses for power transmission, instrumentation and control components and their associated cables and connections. The audit team found that there is an aging management program (AMP) for underground cables from VHS tie breaker routed to Vermont Yankee. However, there appears to be no AMPs for electrical components from the tie breaker to VHS generators. Please describe how aging effects on the rest of the electrical components will be managed during the period of extended operation.Discussion: This call was a follow-up to a January 30, 2007 call, during which the applicantproposed its commitment to address the VHS concerns of the staff. The staff informed theapplicant of its thoughts on the proposed commitment to manage aging of the electrical components from the VHS generator to the Vernon tie breaker. To be consistent with requirements set forth against other plants, the staff believes that an AMP that is consistent with the Generic Aging Lesson Learned Report is required to resolve the issue.Based on the discussion with the applicant, the staff indicated that the response to this RAIrequires clarification. Therefore, the applicant will clarify the information.
