More Protective Radiation Standards-PRM-5 1-11 As a Pottstown resident, who resides near the Limerick Nuclear Power Plant, I am urging you to please approve the petition for rulemaking that would provide more protective radiation standards at older reactors.
We are in a world that is constantly changing. We can not rely on or depend on old data and information to keep us safe. Our country faces new obstacles everyday, and September 1 1 th should be a reminder of that. Not only should we be doing everything in our power to make sure we are taking every precaution necessary from a nuclear or terrorists attack, but we should be taking precautions to protect the health and safety of the surrounding communities and environments.
We have very alarming elevated cancer rates here in Montgomery County. The statistics alone should be reason for concern. We all need to start stepping forward and doing our part to protect each other and our community before things get worse then they already are. We need to change things now before it is too late, to take the necessary protective actions that need to be put in place to start correcting past mistakes.
Our country needs to wake up and realize that they can not just take old or new information for that matter that is done on the average, healthy adult male. Testing needs to be done and/or considered, to be protective of children, babies, pregnant woman, the elderly, and those who already have immune system problems or complications.
Please consider how you would feel living near a nuclear power plant with your family, knowing all too well the alarming cancer rates and leukemia rates in the area. Wouldn't you want to do everything in your power to make sure your children and their future children would be safe and have a chance to grow up without health problems? I don't know about you, but I definitely want my family safe from "unnecessary and preventable harm!" I am asking you for your help to do just that. Please help make more protective radiation standards for nuclear power plants.
