STAFF REQUIREMENTS - BRIEFING ON BROWNS FERRY UNIT 1 RESTART, 9:30 A.M., WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 10, 2007, COMMISSIONERS CONFERENCE ROOM, ONE WHITE FLINT NORTH, ROCKVILLE, MARYLAND (OPEN TO PUBLIC ATTENDANCE)
The Commission was briefed by the NRC staff and representatives of Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) on the restart readiness of the Browns Ferry Unit 1 Nuclear Plant.
The Commission authorizes the Regional Administrator, Region II, in consultation with the Director of NRR and the Executive Director for Operations, to permit the restart of Browns Ferry Unit 1 once the licensee has accomplished all items identified for completion prior to reactor start up and those items have been confirmed as satisfactory by the NRC staff. The staff should keep the Commission informed of any significant issues that arise and notify the Commission when the Regional Administrator makes the determination to allow Browns Ferry Unit 1 to restart.
