Wisconsin Energy Corporation to Sell Point Beach Plant
Subject:
On December 20, 2006, Wisconsin Energy Corporation announced that its subsidiary, Wisconsin Electric Power Company, has reached an agreement to sell the Point Beach Nuclear Plant to FPL Energy, a subsidiary of FPL Group, Inc. Under the agreement, FPL will sell 100 percent of the Point Beach output to We Energies, and FPL will offer employment to all current employees at the plant. The purchase price is approximately $1 billion dollars and includes trust funding for facility decommissioning. The transaction is expected to close in August 2007. Transfer of the license still needs to receive various regulatory, including NRC, approval.
