FW: PRELIMINARY INDIAN POINt HYDRAULIC CONTROL PLAN Gentleman:

Attached are some conceptual thoughts on the use of RW-1 ( and extraction well located in the Unit 2 SFB truck bay approximately 8' from MW-30) for a pilot process to test the feasibility of using this location as a local hydraulic remediation facility.

You may have previously received this GZA supplied material from Mr.

Hinrichs; however his computer has been unavailable for a few days and we are not sure ifyou got this. If you have already received this, please excuse the duplication.

Thank you, Ronald Sachatello From: Sachatello, Ronald

PRELIMINARY HYDRAULIC CONTROL PLAN DOCUMENT DATED JULY 19,2006 Good morning Don, As discussed with your staff late last week, I have attached an electronic copy of GZA's preliminary overview of our current thinking pursuant to potential remediation concepts for Unit 2 and Unit 1. This overview is based on data collected and analyzed through June of this year. As you know, we are in the process of drilling additional wells, including a potential groundwater extraction well (RW-1) next to the unit 2 SFP, which should provide further data to help us refine these initial concepts.

Per your direction, we are currently working on a more refined plan, based on the new data we are collecting, which will include a pilot pumping test of RW-1. Once this plan is completed, it is our intension to also share this information in advance with IPEC, NRC and State agencies as directed by IPEC for technical review, discussion on expected objectives and outcomes, recommendations, clarifications, and any participation, or field observation peer review as desired.

Relative to ongoing discussions, please feel free to distribute the current Preliminary Hydraulic Control Plan to the State and NRC as an introductory discussion to help further timely information transfer.

Please also stress that this is only our initial thinking and requires additional analysis and likely modification based on the new data currently being developed.

Please let me know if you require further information on this subject.
