Dear Mr. Heymer:

This letter is in reference to a letter dated May 25, 2006, that you submitted to the U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) as a comment on a proposed rule, Licenses, Certifications and Approvals for Nuclear Power Plants, published in the Federal Register on March 13, 2006; 71 FR 12782. Your comment has been docketed as a petition for rulemaking under 10 CFR 2.802 and assigned docket Number PRM-50-82.

In your letter, you request that the NRC modify its limited work authorizations process consistent with the industry proposal as discussed in your comment. This petition is being addressed by rulemaking (see supplemental proposed rule, Licenses, Certifications, and Approvals for Nuclear Power Plants published on October 17, 2006; 71 FR 61330 (copy enclosed)).
