NOTIFICATION OF DEGRADED PERFORMANCE OF SIREN 252 LOCATED IN ROCKLAND COUNTY
Dear Mr. Kansler:
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has been made aware of a potentially degraded emergency preparedness (EP) siren maintained by Indian Point Energy Center (IPEC).
Specifically, the concern is regarding the level of audibility of siren 252 in Rockland County.
The enclosure provides a siren vendors report which was submitted to the Radiological Preparedness Section, Department of Homeland Security, and has been provided for your review. The NRC requests that you provide the NRC with planned corrective actions associated with the potentially degraded performance of siren 252. Additionally, NRC oversight of the IPEC EP siren system will continue via the Reactor Oversight Process.
