MAINTENANCE OF REFERENCE MATERIALS AT THE COFFEY COUNTYLIBRARY - BURLINGTON BRANCH, RELATED TO THE REVIEW OF THEWOLF CREEK GENERATING STATION LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATION

Dear Ms. Williams:

This letter is a follow-up to our conversation on October 16, 2006, concerning the maintenanceof relevant documents by your library. These documents are related to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff's review of the application by Wolf Creek NuclearOperating Corporation for renewal of the operating license for Wolf Creek Generating Station for an additional 20 years. The application was received by the NRC on October 4, 2006. TheNRC staff is currently reviewing the application to determine if it is acceptable for docketing. Should the staff accept the application, it will complete the application review within 22 monthsunless there is a hearing. The NRC staff appreciates your willingness to assist the public in participating in the licenserenewal environmental review process. As discussed, your support would consist of providing approximately two feet of shelf space in your reference section, which would be used for making documents related to the NRC staff's environmental review available to the public. We will place the Coffey County Library - Burlington Branch on our distribution list for documentsand notices related to the environmental review of the Wolf Creek application. After theapplication review process is completed, you may dispose of these documents.

I understand you have received a paper and electronic copy of the application as of October 12, 2006, which will be included in your reference section. An electronic version will also be made available at the NRC's license renewal website, accessible at:

http://www.nrc.gov/reactors/operating/licensing/renewal/applications/wolf-creek.html

. Thank you for your cooperation. If you have any questions, you can reach me by telephone at(301) 415-3874 or via e-mail at cjj@nrc.gov
