As a follow-up to our phone conversation this morning, I wanted to let you know that the DHS HO REP Branch concurs with the attached assessment from Darrell Hammond of our Philadelphia office. Local jurisdictions have indicated that they are capable of performing their emergency preparedness functions and the situation does not warrant the need for a disaster initiated review.

Surry power station Vanessa Spoke to art warren of va rep and bill renz, dominion EPP regarding

possible DIR @ surry.

Surry unit 2 tripped saturday evenning and surry power station declared an alert sat. Evening @ around 6:00 pm and lifted the alert sunday morning @ around 6:00 am. The action was not related to any offsite problem. Unit w continued (and continues) to operate.

The state is aware of the situtation at surry, and did not enhance their normal eoc watch staff. @ocal jurisdictions within the surry epz have not reported any concerns or asked for any state assistance.

Based on the foregoing, and my conversation with art and bill, there is no reason for a disaster initated review at the surry power station.
