SAFETY EVALUATION REPORT (SER) RELATED TO THE LICENSE RENEWAL OF PALISADES NUCLEAR PLANT
Dear Mr. Harden:
By letter dated March 22, 2005, Nuclear Management Company, LLC (NMC) submitted, for the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commissions (NRCs) review, an application pursuant to 10 CFR Part 54, to renew the operating license for the Palisades Nuclear Plant (PNP) for an additional 20 years. The NRC determined that the License Renewal Application (LRA) was complete and acceptable for docketing on June 8, 2005. Since that time, the NRC staff has reviewed the PNP LRA, issued requests for additional information (RAIs), reviewed the applicants responses to the staffs RAIs, developed an initial safety evaluation report (SER) dated June 1, 2006, and reviewed the applicants comments on the initial SER. On the basis of this review, the staff has developed the enclosed SER to document its finding associated with the safety review of the LRA and supporting documentation for the Palisades Nuclear Plant.
