SUBJECT:
CHANGE IN NRC STAFF PROJECT MANAGEMENT FOR VETERANS AFFAIRS MEDICAL CENTER REACTOR FACILITIES
Dear Mr. Washko:
On October 1, 2006, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff project management for your facility will transfer from the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation, Division of Policy and Rulemaking, to the Office of Nuclear Material Safety and Safeguards (NMSS), Division of Waste Management and Environmental Protection (DWMEP). This change is being made to consolidate the NRC decommissioning activities in one central organization. This change in regulatory oversight will allow licensees to capitalize on NMSS experience and expertise in the evaluation of any future dismantlement, decontamination, and license termination activities.
Ted Smith has been assigned as your Project Manager in NMSS/DWMEP. He can be reached at (301) 415-6721. Future official correspondence should be directed to the Document Control Desk with a copy sent directly to:

Sincerely,
/RA/
