September 19, 2006 MEMORANDUM TO: File FROM:

Maitri Banerjeee, Senior Project Manager/RA/

Division of Operating Reactor Licensing Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation

SUBJECT:

DRESDEN NUCLEAR POWER STATION, UNITS 2 AND 3 - REGION III REQUEST TO REVIEW LICENSEES RESPONSE TO TASK INTERFACE AGREEMENT 2005-009 RELATED TO EMERGENCY DIESEL TESTING (TAC NOS. MD1493 AND MD1494)

The Electrical Engineering Branch (EEEB) and the Component Performance and Testing Branch (CPTB) of the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation (NRR) have reviewed additional information associated with Task Interface Agreement 2005-009 provided by Exelon Generation Company, LLC (Exelon) on June 8, 2006 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System Accession No. ML062090025), and discussed their findings with Region III in a conference call on August 1, 2006. EEEB AND CPTB staff reaffirmed their position that the Dresden emergency diesel generator testing must envelope the long-term design-basis accident loads.

Region III will communicate this reaffirmation to Exelon and take the next course of action. No further review is required from the NRR staff.

The TACs will be closed.

Docket Nos. 50-237 and 50-249
