Re: Update

Kymn, Thanks for the information.

I will ask the staff of their knowledge of the Salem 2 1 I1 relief request. Regarding your comment that there may be a "cover up" of some sort related to this item, as you acknowledged, we will need specific additional detail in order to assess this as a potential wrongdoing matter.

I will assure that Eileen and the o r staff members who are supporting the SCWE reveiw are made aware of your comments abou.-

- nowledge of SCWE issues. Regardin comment to you about the possibility that he is being harassed with regard to some safety issues he is-working on, please understand that it is our preference that individuals come forward on their own behalf to raise an harassment/discrimination concern. As indicated in you rmessage, he may discuss this with the residents, or he may call me if he so wishes.

I appreciate all the efforts, support, and thoroughness of you and the entire NRC team.

Three items for you:

1. 1 have been moving and have misplaced the receipts. I will send them to you as soon as I find them. I know it is important to get the paperwork done.
2. The weld issue I mentioned the other day ha~s to do with a relief request from PSEG Nuclear regarding ultrasonic examination of Unit 2 system piping.

It is 151 Relief Requet S2-12-RR-A16. From what I hive heard so far, there is' concern that the company is not being truthful and some kind of "cover-up" for a bigger problem is happening. I am trying to get more details.

3. 1 heard fromV M

last night, Mp mployee at PSEG Nualear in the Work Management organization. He is someone who has been with PSEG a long time and knows the SCWE and technical issues. He spoke of some "harassment" he is presently getting regarding his work on te 'ch specs, some safety and schedule concerns he has expressed, etc. He voiced that if it got worse he'd be going to the NRC Resident. His phone number at work Is-n hm

4. 1 talked with a former Hope Creek manager last night. By talking with people who work there he was able to catalog a list of "events" that had taken place at the plant in 2003 alone that significantly concerned him. He said, "Ift' a wonder the NRC is still letting them operate." His concern was that the lack of organizational stability (following this recent reorg) and "known leadership" did not bode well for HC turning this trend around.

I hope this is helpful.
