Information on ADAMS Kymn and Dave, In advance of the June 16 meeting, just wanted to inform you about information recently provided to the NRC by PSEG that is being placed in ADAMS for public consumption. It should be in the system by late today or tommorow (Package Accession Number ML041460523). On May 21, 2004, we received the following from PSEG: (1) a 57 page Executive Summary Report, dated February 2004, of a 2003 Comprehensive Cultural Assessment performed by Synergy Corporation; (2) a 25 page report, along with 5 Attachments, of a Safety Cultural Assessment conducted by Utility Service Alliance in March 2004; and (3) a 75 page Report, dated May 4, 2004, with 11 Attachments, of an Independent Assessment Team Review responding to the January 28, 2004 NRC letter regarding the safety conscious work environment at Salem and Hope Creek.
The PSEG cover letter notes that the reports all provide similar results, and document that the work environment at both Salem and Hope Creek is in need of improvement. The PSEG letter further states that PSEG is developing a comprehensive plan to improve not only the work environment, but also the PSEG corrective action and work management programs, which they view as principal drivers of the needed improvements in the work environment.
We are reviewing the documentation thoroughly in preparation for the June 16 public meeting with PSEG.
