R08 060609 874 June 9, 2006 10 CFR 55.59 Dr. William D. Travers Regional Administrator U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Sam Nunn Atlanta Federal Center 61 Forsyth Street S.W., Suite 23T85 Atlanta, Georgia 30303-8931
Dear Sir:
In the Matter of ) Docket Nos. 50-259 Tennessee Valley Authority ) 50-260 50-296 BROWNS FERRY NUCLEAR PLANT (BFN) - REQUEST TO RESCHEDULE THE DECEMBER 4, 2006 REQUALIFICATION INSPECTION As noted in the NRC annual assessment letter, dated March 2, 2006, the NRC will perform biennial inspection of the BFN Licensed Operator Requalification Program. This inspection is currently scheduled during the week of December 4, 2006.
This schedule was predicated on BFN administering its requalification examinations in Operator Training Cycle 6 (November 6, 2006 to December 15, 2006).
As a result of a recent workload evaluation, TVA is moving the BFN requalification examinations from Cycle 6 to Cycle 5 (September 11, 2006 to October 14, 2006). Therefore, the current NRC scheduled requalification inspection date will not allow NRC to assess BFNs examination process in accordance with Step 71111.11-01.02 of NRC Inspection Procedure 71111.11, Licensed Operator Requalification Program.
Dr. William D. Travers Page 2 June 9, 2006 Therefore, TVA is requesting the NRC reschedule its requalification inspection from the current date to any week between September 11, 2006 and October 14, 2006.
If you have any questions, please telephone E. R. Scillian at (256) 729-3439.
Sincerely, Original signed by:
