Dear Ladies and Gentlemen:

Subject:

Salem Generating Station - Units 1 and 2 Docket Nos. 50-272 and 50-311 License Change Request S06-03.

PSEG Nuclear LLC (PSEG) submitted the subject change request to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) on May 1, 2006. The proposed change would revise the Technical Specifications to move the Main Steamline Discharge (Safety Valves and Atmospheric Dumps) Radiation Monitors from the radiation monitoring technical specification to the accident monitoring technical specification. In addition, the Technical Specification for Source Checks would be modified to allow different methods to comply with the Source Check requirement.

The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection's (DEP) Bureau of Nuclear Engineering (BNE) reviewed the request in accordance with the requirements of 10 CFR 50.91(b). We have no comments.

If you have any questions, please contact Jerry Humphreys at (609) 984-7469.
