Dear all:
I nave been assigned to review the Salem/Hope Creek 01 report Alleged Discrimination for Raising Safety Issues with the Chief Nuclear Officer and the PSEG Chairman of the Board. My completion date is this Friday (1/13). The Report has been very useful. I have not delved into the Exhibits. I have also discussed the 01 report with Karl and with Russ Arrighi.
The first thing I wanted to accomplish was to set up a discussion with Jeff Teator so that I could discuss the investigation with him. Russ would also definitely want to participate. Karl had made this suggestion.
Then he checked on Jeff's schedule and was advised (see below) that he was out on an investigation through tomorrow (Thursday) morning. Ernie: do you have any more precise information that would enable a determination whether Ernie would be available and ready to support such a discussion this week? Also, can you contact Jeff about it so that we will not "hit him cold" on this. I am in the office tomorrow and Friday and do not have any meetings on my schedule. A discussion this week is important to meet my due date.
Also, my availability to call in to an enforcement board on Wednesday, 1/19 is doubtful. I will be in a meeting between NRC and USEC at Portsmouth most of the day and will then be returning to the Columbus, Ohio airport. I owe Janice Moore a briefing on the 01 report by this Friday.
I would appreciate a discussion this week, the necessary persons being available. Try to set it up. Your efforts will be appreciated.

We had discussed meeting some time after 3:00 today, to discuss the nonsubsantiated 01 report. Karl Farrar has offered to set up a conference for Russ Arrghi and me with Jeff Teator, the Special Investigator who completed this investigation. Better if I brief you after that call.
Another meeting from 2:30 to 3:15 has come up. I will be in contact with you after that meeting.
