Whistleblower at Salem/Hope Creek Bob:

Now that the whistleblower has gone public, we would like to meet with her. It might be advantageous to have NRC also at the meeting, since whatever she told us, we would have to pass along to you anyway. Does that seem feasible? Otherwise, we will have a quiet meeting (probably just Kent Tosch, Gerry Nicholls and 1) and will write up our thoughts afterward and raise them.

Make sure we cut OE in on the issue....

Please see the attached. NJ-DEP wants to meet with the alleger now that she has gone public. NJ has asked if we want to participate in the meeting. This is new ground for me. I would like management to weigh in on this. There are positives and negatives to partipating in such a meeting.

Re: Fwd: Whistleblower at Salem/Hope Creek I contacted NJ (Kent Tosch, Jill wasn't available) this afternoon to discuss the meeting. Kent said that the individual met with Kent, Jill and Gerry Nicholls yesterday. Kent said NJ asked whether the information had also been given to the NRC and she said it had been. Kent said they made no promises to her. He didn't detect any new information which NJ didn't know about from visits to the site. He said if NJ finds something new NJ would bring it to our attention. He did relate that in response to a question from NJ, she said she thought the NRC actions were excellent in responding to her issues.

Dave, From 01's perspective, we do not see any need for our presence at the meeting. Depending on NRC protocol, if appropriate, the staff should probably consider having someone present in case something new (technical issue) arises. This would save turnaround time for the State since they've said the results of their meeting will be provided to the NRC anyway. Just a thought.
