rnn vvnuIe - I t I.nim r-age 1.I Indian Point Energy Center Status Report April 7, 2006 Operational Status - 2R17 Outage Preparations Indian Point Unit 2 is operating at 100% and has been on line 37 days. Indian Point Unit 3 is operating at 100% reactor power and has been on-line for 185 days.

Operations and maintenance crews are preparing for Indian Point Unit 2's upcoming refueling outage scheduled to begin later this month. The outage scope includes replacing about 1/3 of the fuel assemblies and full primary and secondary side inspections of the four steam generators. Entergy will also conduct the 10-year Integrated System Inspection as well as the Integrated Leak Rate Test to measure containment integrity.

Groundwater Investigation

-Entergy continues to draw samples from the phase 2 wells on site. In the picture at right, technicians are conducting a packer test, in which samples are drawn from various elevations in the developed well. Samples from these locations will be analyzed for tritium and other radioactive isotopes. Next week Entergy and DEC will conduct split samples for the phase 2 wells.

The web site is part of the virtual news room concept that is being developed for public emergency information. The web site will also include the latest radiological release information for Indian Point.

To preview the web site follow the link to Indian Point Status Page Educational Outreach Entergy Nuclear Northeast provides customized outreach education programs for schools, youth groups, and civic organizations. The topics we cover include Emergency Planning, Understanding Radiation, Nuclear Fuel and a general overview of the operations of Indian Point Energy Center.
