NY STATE SPLIT SAMPLE INFORMATION REQUEST BY MR. RICE John/Jim/Gregg:
Just to keep you in the communication loop of the most recent split samples sent to the NRC and State.
Attached are some recent communication with Mr. Rice that detail his inquiry as to where the State samples are.
The answer is the State (and corresponding NRC) split samples are in the US mail system which takes a week to deliver. My Rice has a question if the State samples were sent out the same day the NRC and IPEC samples were. The State samples were sent out the same day the IPEC and NRC samples were sent out. Because of the outage preparation the warehouse and in-house shippers are backed up with many shipping and receipt requests, and paperwork processes. Based on this the NRC will be receiving their sample splits approximately the same time as will the State and IPEC labs.
On the last split samples approximately 3 weeks ago we had a person drive the State samples directly to the State lab supervisor in Troy NY (a round trip of 270 miles), whereas the IPEC and NRC samples went out US mail. Possibly there is an issue of sample preservation that the State is interested in that we are not aware of.
Thus to keep you in the loop, your samples are in the mail and you should be receiving them shortly.
ADDITIONAL UPDATE at 1430 hrs:
Today (Friday March 31, 2005) we took our initial sample of MW-52, and a series of low flow samples on MW-42.
We will be counting these samples in-house for gamma and tritium, and relay the results to your office and the State when we get them.

James Noggle - NY STATE SPLIT SAMPLE INFORMATION REQUEST BY MR. RICE Page--2]{
Mr. Rice:
I would assume the warehouse receiving these NRC and State samples at the same time treated them similarly, but I am not in this transportation loop. I'know factually that the IPEC samples did not go out any faster than the State or NRC samples.
I do not know if you are aware of it, but three weeks ago Entergy had an employee directly drive the State samples, and hand delivered them directly to the State laboratory supervisor, to try to make this process as fast as possible. We shipped the corresponding NRC samples and IPEC samples using the US mail system.

Re: FW: STATE SPLIT SAMPLES - Not Received by Lab Did the backup for outage receipts and delivery also delay the shipment of the NRC and Entergy samples for the same amount of time?
