Fwd: Re: EPW Committee request for staff briefing S Tim, See attached. Looks like you only received an excerpt of extensive e-mail trail on this topic. It's related to a growing congressional interest (particularly by several senators/staff on the E&PW Committee) for NRC to conduct an Independent Safety Assessment at Indian Point and at Vermont Yankee. The main focus of the briefing isnot on tritium, although the continuing tritium issue at IP has a lot to do with the growing interest for an ISA to be done at IP. I believe the tritium issue, as a main focus, may be addressed at another Hill briefing in the near future.

Sam Subject of this briefing is unclear. Is it tritium related? Is it just Braidwood, or more of an agency perspective? Or does it have nothing to do with tritium?

The word I hear is that the Committee would still like to have the meeting this Thrusday, 2/16/06, at 4:30pm. We'll hear something more formal from the Chmn's office, so this is just a heads up.
