SAFETY EVALUATION REPORT RELATED TO THE LICENSE RENEWAL OF MONTICELLO NUCLEAR GENERATING PLANT
Dear Mr. Conway:
By letter dated March 16, 2005, Nuclear Management Company, LLC (NMC) submitted, for the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commissions (NRCs) review, an application pursuant to 10 CFR Part 54, to renew the operating license for the Monticello Nuclear Generating Plant (MNGP) for an additional 20 years. The NRC determined that the License Renewal Application (LRA) was complete and acceptable for docketing on May 5, 2005. Since that time, the NRC staff has reviewed the MNGP LRA, issued requests for additional information (RAIs), reviewed the applicants responses to the staffs RAIs, developed an initial safety evaluation report (SER) dated April 26, 2006, and reviewed the applicants comments on the initial SER. On the basis of this review, the staff has developed the enclosed SER to document its finding associated with the safety review of the LRA and supporting documentation for the Monticello Nuclear Generating Plant.
