Tritium Update
- Mark, The licensee's plans for moving forward as discussed at today's plan-of-the-day meeting. Approximately 65,000 gallons of water has been stored in tanks and the de-watering process will continue to support excavation and shoring activities. Today, the licensee will began excavating toward the Unit 2/3 interlock doors and plans to complete excavation and shoring on March 25. By this time, a significant amount of HPCI piping will be exposed to support locating the leak.
The licensee will pressurize the piping one more time, in an attempt to locate the leak, prior to conducting required HPCI surveillance testing. If the leak is located, the licensee would conduct a temporary repair and then perform the HPCI surveillance. The surveillance due dates, which include the 25 percent grace period, for Unit 2 and Unit 3 are April 23 and 14, respectively. During the surveillance, station personnel will be positioned inside the excavation site to assistance in locating the leak. After testing, the licensee would commence piping replacement activities.
The daily sample results have not indicated that the leak has migrated to a different area or that a new leak has developed elsewhere in the suspect piping.
