May 18, 2006 Mr. R. T. Ridenoure Vice President - Chief Nuclear Officer Omaha Public Power District Fort Calhoun Station FC-2-4 Adm.

Post Office Box 550 Fort Calhoun, NE 68023-0550

SUBJECT:

FORT CALHOUN STATION, UNIT NO. 1 - CORRECTION TO THE LETTER REGARDING RELIEF REQUEST FOR THE USE OF RADIOGRAPHY USING PHOSPHOR IMAGING PLATE

Dear Mr. Ridenoure:

By letter dated May 10, 2006, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) issued a letter in response to Omaha Public Power District's (OPPD's) letter, dated October 28, 2005, submitting a relief request for its fourth 10-year inservice inspection program interval at the Fort Calhoun Station, Unit 1. The last sentence of the second paragraph of the May 10, 2006, letter erroneously omitted the word "neither."

This sentence should read as follows:

Therefore, for the purposes described in your October 28, 2005, letter, the NRC staff concludes that neither a request for relief from ASME Code requirements nor authorization of an alternative to NRC requirements in 10 CFR 50.55a is needed for OPPD to use phosphor imaging plates in lieu of film.

This letter should be a supplement to our initial letter dated May 10, 2006. This change helps to clarify the NRC's concluding statement.

We regret any inconvenience this error has caused you.

Sincerely,

/RA/

Alan B. Wang, Project Manager Plant Licensing Branch IV Division of Operating Reactor Licensing Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation cc: See next page
