May 12, 2006 Mr. James A. Spina, Vice President Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant, Inc.

Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant 1650 Calvert Cliffs Parkway Lusby, MD 20657-4702

Dear Mr. Spina:

On behalf of the Division of Preparedness and Response, I would like to express my appreciation to you and your staff for the support provided in coordinating and conducting a tour of the Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant for representatives of the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) and United States Northern Command (USNORTHCOM) on April 27, 2006. Despite their busy schedules, your staff was able to provide a facility tour that far exceeded the expectations of the visitors. In particular, I would like to note the efforts of Gene Gwiazdowski and Ed Schinner, who personally escorted the visitors throughout the site. Their depth of knowledge regarding the facility and ability to clearly and concisely answer questions posed by the visitors added significant value to the site visit.

Brigadier General Rosanne Bailey, Commander of the Cheyenne Mountain Operations Center, was impressed with the focus of the visit and the level of access granted at the plant. The visitors left the site with a different perspective and understanding on the security and precautions that have been taken to protect nuclear power plants.

Sincerely,

\\RA\\

Eric Leeds, Director Division of Preparedness and Response Office of Nuclear Security and Incident
