The Legislature of Rockland County HARRIET D. CORNELL Chainvoman April 13,2006 A.R. Blough, Director Division of Reactor Safety, Region 1 U S Nuclear Regulatory Commission - Region 1 475 Allendale Road King of Prussia, Pa 19406

Dear Mr. Blough:

You are well aware of the concerns raised by elected officials and residents of Rockland and Westchester Counties about the contaminated leakages emanating f$om Indian Point.

Presentations have been made to assuage concerns by reference to acceptable levels of release per maximally exposed individuals. It was, however, stated at a March 28, 2006 meeting of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Region I in response to an audience member question that dose limits described were for adults.

According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency relative to radionuclida in drinking water standards, there is a separate and explicit risk differential for children. The NRC website cites permissible exposure to minors as 10 percent of the annual limits for an adult.

I request all data regarding dose limits for children, particularly as they may apply to the leakage contamination at Indian Point. Children are not small adults and I am very concerned about the potential adverse impact of radioactive materials on the infants, children and youth of Rockland County.

Thank you for your attention to this request.
