1/26/06 Bwd Tritium public meeting Last night Exelon held a public meeting with the local residents principly affected by the offsite tritium contamination. Jan Strasma, Steve Orth and myself attended the meeting. There were also two newspaper reporters at the meeting.
The meeting was lively and went as expected. Exelon clearly stated their responsiblity for the tritium contamination and presented a brief, but accurate summary of the efforts to date.
Exelon also provided outside experts in hydrology and health physics to help answer questions.
There were a number of questions from the attendees, primarily associated with potential health affects and potential declining property values. While one or two individuals were very vocal in expressing their views, the majority were skeptical, but respectful.
Although one reporter interviewed Jan Strasma, no questions were directed at the NRC by those attending.
