IPEC status report for December 12

FJ-ofi6'VVfiif6--__1PE status report for Decem 'e-r 2Pg _Page 2 JonWieIE ttsrpotfrDcme Indian Foint Energy Center Daily Status Report December 12, 2005 Operational Status Indian Point Unit 2 is operating at 100% and has been online 373days.

Indian Point Unit 3 is operating at 100% reactor power and has been on-line for 69 days.

Indian Point Spent Fuel Pool Investigation Sample results from new wells No tritium has been found in a monitoring well drilled on the south end of Indian Point. The monitoring well, given the identifier MW-38, was installed just southwest of the Unit 3 turbine building as part of the on-goincl investigation into a leak from the Unit 2 spent fuel pool. Entergy is drilling wells in nine new locations on site. These wells are being installed to help characterize the flow of water on site. No other radioactive nuclides have been found in this well.

Monitoring well MW-38 is the second new well constructed on site. The first one was drilled in the loading bay of the Unit 2 spent fuel pool where a hairline crack was identified on the loading bay wall of the pool.

The monitoring well, given the identifier MW-30, showed tritium concentrations 15-30 times drinking water standards. Additional wells in the Unit 2 transformer yard are in the first stages of construction.

Entergy, New York State and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission have taken split samples at a number of wells off-site. To date, no tritium has been found in any of these samples. An updated map is attached which shows the approximate location of MW-30 and MW-38.

The NRC, is continuing its special inspection on the spent fuel pool issue and is continuing conference calls to t rief stakeholders. No date has been set for the public exit meeting.
