I;c mithi - IPEC s :atus report forJan. 3 Page 2 Indian Point Energy Center Daily Status Report January 3, 2006 Operational Status Indian Point Unit 2 is operating at 100% and has been online 12 days.
Indian Point Unit 3 is operating at 100% reactor power and has been on-line for 91 days.
Indian Point Tritium Investigation Drainage system shows levels of tritium Indian Point is continuing its investigation into leakage of tritium, a radioactive isotope of hydrogen, into the site. As reported previously, the ground water sampling program has been expanded to include the various storm water drainage systems on site. The drainage systems adjacent to the IP2 transformer yard have been sample for tritium and show amounts of tritium ranging from a high of about 50,000 pCVL to <
1000 pCi/L. The highest sample result was at location MH-6 near monitoring well MW-1i1 in the transformer yard. Lower readings were found on the south side of the transformer yard at locations MH 17-19. See attached map for locations.
Additional phase 1 monitoring wells were installed and sampled over the holiday. The latest sample results from the monitoring wells in the IP2 transformer yard and elsewhere are summarized below:

Preparation work including ground penetrating radar to ensure that there are no service lines in the area have begun.
Drilling will begin this week.
No tritium has been found in any off-site location including drinking water supplies. There are no health or safety impacts to the public or workers from tritium on site.
