~Ente>8 Indian Point Energy Center Daily Status Report January 4, 2006 Operational Status Indian Point Unit 2 is operating at 100% and has been online 13 days.

Indian Point Unit 3 is operating at 100% reactor power and has been on-line for 92 days.

Indian Point Tritium Investigation Monitoring Wells Drillers are on site continuing to core the deep bedrock well (MW-32), which is adjacent to the IP2 spent fuel building. The 200-foot plus well is being drilled through very hard bedrock containing marble, granite and limestone. Drillers are using ground penetrating radar to ensure that the drill does not come in contact with underground services in the area. MW-32, which will be the deepest well in the phase 1 installation, should be completed by early next week.

Two additional monitoring wells will be constructed inside the Unit 2 turbine Drill rig at MW-31 location just outside IP2 spent building on either side of the discharge fuel building. The concrete truck In the loading bay canal to assess the hydrogeology is being used to pour the foundation floor for new in gantry crane. MW-32 Is on the other side of the roll immediately adjacent to the discharge up doors.

canal. Strict safety precautions are being observed since the area has tight clearances and sensitive electrical equipment. The drill rig will need to core through several feet of concrete in the turbine building floor. Ground penetrating radar is being used here also to ensure that there are no service or electrical lines in the area before drilling begins later week or early next week.

Leakage from the narrow crack in the IP2 spent fuel building has stopped.

Storm Drain Analysis The storm drainage systems adjacent to the IP2 transformer yard continue to be sampled as part of the tritium investigation. Sample location MH-2, located near the

Joh-W~h te. Jan 4 OE,.doc Page 21 Entergy discharge canal at IP2, has shown trace levels of tritium (65lpCi/L) while MH-1 was muddy and difficult to sample. Investigators are planning to use a florescent dye tracer to help characterize the interconnections between the two sample locations and the discharge canal. New York State has been notified of the planned test.

No tritium has been found in any off-site location including drinking water supplies.

There are no health or safety impacts to the public or workers from tritium on site.

Entergy Adds New Feature to Website Entergy has added an e-mail update feature to its safesecurevital website. You can sign up for updates on a variety of topics including siren tests, security upgrades and environmental issues.
