-a e 2 Indian Point Energy Center Daily Status Report November 3, 2005 Operational Status Indian Point Unit 2 is operating at 100% and has been online 334 days.

Indian Point Unit 3 is operating at 100% reactor power and has been on-line for 30 days. Operations crews are performing routine tests, maintenance and surveillances.

Entergy is continuing the investigation into a leak in the IP2 spent fuel pool. Experts in hydrology and ground water modeling have been hired to assist in the investigation.

The NRC is continuing its special inspection on the spent fuel pool issue. The inspection began on September 22 and is on-going.

Entergy Briefs Stakeholders on Spent Fuel Pool Issues Over forty attendees representing federal, state, and local government as well as New York agencies and business leaders attended a briefing at Indian Point on the spent fuel pool issues at IPEC. Program Manager, Don Leach reviewed the key steps taken by Entergy to investigate two small cracks found on the south wall of the IP2 spent fuel pool. He indicated that the investigation, which is still on going, involves an inspection of the fuel pool liner, installation of new monitoring wells near the IP2 spent fuel pool, and on-going sampling and analysis. Mr. Leach discussed the early results of the fuel liner inspection which revealed three small potential flaws near the southwest corner of the fuel pool.

Don Mayer, director special projects, briefed the attendees on the work underway to inspect the IPI spent fuel and eventually move the fuel to dry cask storage. As part of the inspection, water level was raised in the pool and subsequently water moved between the interconnecting pools. The site has an engineering analysis underway to help understand the water balance in the system.

Participants then went inside the protected areas to see the south pool wall at IP2 and several of the currently used monitoring wells.

A map of monitoring well locations was provided to attendees and is attached to this report.
