Dear Mr. Blevins:
On March 23 and 30, 2006, the NRC Region IV office sent administrative staff on tours to the Comanche Peak Steam Electric Station. These tours were coordinated between Dale Powers of my staff and Messrs. Fred Madden and Garry Struble of your staff. During the tours, our administrative staff were able to observe exhibits and the short movie on the site history in the visitor center. They were also admitted to the simulator, where they were provided explanations of its functions and given a demonstration(s) of its response to a design basis accident scenario(s). In addition, they were toured through the Nuclear Operations Support Facility, and explained the emergency staffing and functions that occur in the facility. Later, they toured portions of the protected area with Mr. Ray Azua and our resident inspectors Don Allen and Fred Sanchez.
Your staff's support for our administrative staff tours was very beneficial. Most of these personnel had never been to a nuclear power plant, and the first-hand experience of touring your facilities will help them in their day-to-day work supporting our regional inspection staff.
Following the tours, we received from our staff many thanks for making this opportunity possible. This thanks, I wish to forward onto you along with my appreciation to your staff for the helpful cooperation and good working relationship that this effort brought forth.
