Definition of Underground liquid services Dave Per our discussion which followed the 10:00 AM meeting (you were not in attendance), would you please take the actions needed to make sure that you or the team members that you have working with you, add these items to the list of things to consider as potential sources of underground contamination at IPEC.
Please note that the IP-3 CVCS and WHUT tank areas were flooded to about the 5 foot depth for several years. Those storage vault walls may be as permeable as the IP-2 FSB wall.
Recent discussions with the NRC indicate that they are not just concerned about the potential for leakage from the FSB or the WSFP, but that they are also interested in us knowing all of the potential sources of activity to the environment. The increases the need to clearly identify ALL of the potential sources of leakage to the environment, such as:
Underground pipes potentially containing radioactive fluid:
o RWST lines o
PWST lines o
Monitor Tanks o
Liquid Radioactive Waste lines to WHUT pits o
Liquid Radioactive Waste lines between units (IP-1 to IP-2 or IP-3 to IP-1/2) o Lines to condensate storage tanks (CST) (low level tritium in condensate system recirculating to tank) o ABFP suction lines to CST o
Lines from VC to PAB or FSB Building sumps in contact with the ground plane o
FSB Sumps o
PAB sumps Secondary plant sources o
Drains/sumps o
Auxiliary steam condensate discharge paths (all three units)
I believe that this needs to be a deliverable as part of this project.
