October 19, 2005 Operational Status Indian Point Unit 2 is operating at 100% and has been online 319 days.
Indian Point Unit 3 is operating at 100% reactor power and has been on-line for 14 days.
Entergy Tests Sirens in EPZ Yesterday, Entergy conducted a full volume test of the 156 sirens in the 10-mile Emergency Planning Zone. The test consisted of 2 soundings of the sirens, one from the backup system at 10 AM and one from the primary system at 10:30. In each case the siren activation signal was initiated at the individual county Warning Points.
In the first test, a total of 14 of the 156 sirens reported back as failures, two in Westchester, two in Rockland, and 10 in Orange. All sirens functioned properly in Putnam County.
In the second test a total of 4 of the 156 sirens reported back as failures, two in Westchester and two in Rockland. These were the same four from Westchester and Rockland identified in the first test. All sirens in Putnam and Orange Counties sounded satisfactorily in the second test.
Entergy is conducting a thorough investigation into why the sirens failed to operate as expected. All test results have been discussed with the counties and the NRC.
Training Drill Scheduled for October 19 Entergy, New York State SEMO and the four counties in the Emergency Planning Zone conducted a training drill for the new Joint Information Center today. The drill Involved the Emergency Operations Facility at Indian Point and the Joint Information Center located at the NY State Traffic Management Center in Hawthorne, N.Y.
