NRC's STATE AND LOCAL OUTREACH MEETING ON TUESDAY, MARCH 21, 2006
Dear Judge Hart:
Each year, NRC Region IV participates in selected licensee exercises. This gives the NRC the opportunity to demonstrate its ability to interface with licensees as well as local, state and federal agencies. On April 26, 2006, Arkansas Nuclear One (ANO) will conduct an exercise of its emergency plan. The NRC will participate in this exercise from the Region IV Incident Response Center in Arlington, Texas, as well as locally at the Arkansas Nuclear One Emergency Operations Facility, Joint Information Center, and the state of Arkansas Emergency Operations Center.
In accordance with our standard outreach plan the NRC meets with the state and local authorities to discuss the following to help maximize our effectiveness in the event of a real incident.
NRC responsibilities How best to liaison with respective decision makers What communication protocols to use to effectively communicate with the decision makers Identify point-of-contacts for information exchange prior to, during and after an exercise or actual event We would like to invite you to the NRC's Decision Makers Meeting on Tuesday, March 21, 2006, to be held in the ANO Training Center's East Auditorium at 9:00 a.m., CST.
