Briefing of Sen Lautenberg's staffer this morning I fielded a call thru congressional affairs to brief Cindy Bethell of U.S. Sen Lautenberg's staff on Salem/ Hope Creek.
The call did not go particularly well, and this may signal that the Sen will get involved in some way.
Ms. Bethell had only a very short time available t:o talk with us. She had a hard time resolving UCS's commentary on PSEG's docketed assessments with our overall context of plant safety and ROP results (i.e., there are lots of issues but none of high safety significance). I made the point, but am not sure if I got across, that we are taking extraordinary actions and paying extra attention the the facility.
