FW: FYI I STRAIGHT TALK - RECENT MEDIA ATTENTION Attached is an all-hands communication that PSEG sent out on Sunday's protest. Looks like a good response to the PSEG staff, i.e. supportive of concerns regardless of the source.

FYI I STRAIGHT TALK - RECENT MEDIA ATTENTION Importance: High Straight Talk - Recent Media Attention There's lots of chatter over the media attention we received over the weekend and today. Folks are upset and wondering if the company will respond in any way (i.e., letter to editor, etc.)?

You are right. Protests were held at several nuclear sites around the country, including ours, to commemorate the 25th anniversary of TMI.

Locally, the protest focused more on our safety conscious work environment (SCWE) and the comments of a former employee! who discussed her concerns than it did on TMI.

At both recent public meetings, the NRC meeting in March and the protest this weekend, former employees spoke up about concerns they had regarding our operation. Part of having a strong safety conscious work environment is having an environment where employees are encouraged to raise issues without fear of retaliation. The same holds true for issues raised by others outside the company. Regardless of how concerns are brought forward, we must evaluate them for their merit, take appropriate action if needed, and ensure there is no retaliation or intimidation for raising the concern. This is the only way we will improve.

The next public conversation with regards to our work environment will be when we meet with the NRC on May 19 - employees and the public are invited to attend. At that meeting we will discuss the results of our assessments and the plans we have developed. We will not be initiating any conversation with the media in the mean time, other than to be available for media inquiries as we get them.
