Dear Administrative Judges:
The NRC Staff ("Staff") wishes to inform you that it has today issued an amendment to the operating license for the Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Station, authorizing an extended power uprate for the facility, increasing the maximum authorized power level from 1593 megawatts thermal (MWt) to 1912 MWt. Enclosed herewith is a copy of a letter from Richard B. Ennis (NRC) to Michael Kansler (Entergy Nuclear Operations, Inc.), dated March 2, 2006, transmitting the license amendment and Final Safety Evaluation ("SE") to the licensee.
In accordance with the telephone conference call held on January 24, 2006, copies of the enclosed letter and attachments are being transmitted herewith to all parties in the proceeding by overnight mail. The SE delivery date of March 3, 2006, should therefore be regarded as the "trigger date" for various actions specified in the Board's Initial Scheduling Order Df February 1, 2005. See Tr. 762-63.
