Call from Congressman Frank A. LoBiondo, Rep. 2nd District I received a direct call from the Congressman this afternoon. He had previously been briefed by Randy Blough and myself on the status of performance iissues at Salem/Hope Creek. The Congressman had the recent press articles brought to his attention re performance of the HPCI/RCIS pumps and the release of the tapes by Dr. Harvin which recorded conversations by PSEG staff and herself. I reviewed the issues with the Congressman and noted that neither of the topic contained new information that the NRC was not aware and followup thru the allegation/Ol process and Hope Creek Special Inspection Team was in progress. I noted the planned public meeting prior to Hope Creek restart. He was satisfied and indicated that he would keep close watch over the licensee and NRC oversight since the facility was important to his district. I asked if he was receiving information at the right level for his needs and he said yes. No followup commitments. Sam CC:
