NPF-12 SPECIAL REPORT (SPR) 2006-001 South Carolina Electric & Gas Company (SCE&G) is submitting this report pursuant to the requirements of Technical Specification 3.3.3.1.b. This report addresses the inoperability of the Main Plant Vent and Reactor Building Purge Supply and Exhaust System radiation monitors (RMA-13 and RMA-14) for greater than 72 hours8.333333e-4 days <br />0.02 hours <br />1.190476e-4 weeks <br />2.7396e-5 months <br />. During the inoperable period of 90 hours0.00104 days <br />0.025 hours <br />1.488095e-4 weeks <br />3.4245e-5 months <br /> and 45 minutes, V. C. Summer Nuclear Station (VCSNS) implemented a preplanned alternate monitoring in accordance with the requirements of Action 30 of the Technical Specification.
The radiation monitors were removed from service on February 11, 2006 at 1625 hours0.0188 days <br />0.451 hours <br />0.00269 weeks <br />6.183125e-4 months <br /> in order to replace the Victoreen Model 845 series radiation monitors with a new Victoreen Model 945A series to improve equipment reliability. The modifications were completed and the equipment returned to operability on February 15, 2006 at 1110 hours0.0128 days <br />0.308 hours <br />0.00184 weeks <br />4.22355e-4 months <br />.
