DOCKET NO. 50/395 OPERATING LICENSE NO. NPF-12 30-DAY RESPONSE TO NRC GENERIC LETTER 2006-01 STEAM GENERATOR TUBE INTEGRITY AND ASSOCIATED TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS On January 20, 2006, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) issued NRC Generic, Letter 2006-01 to request that utilities provide information within 30 days of the date of the generic letter, either confirming a submitted license amendment request (LAR) to modify the steam generator (SO) portion of the licensee's technical specifications (TS) consistent with Technical Specifications Task Force (TSTF)
Standard Technical Specification Change Traveler, TSTF-449, "Steam Generator Tube Integrity," Revision 4, or provide a regulatory commitment detailing plans and schedule for submitting such a request.
Should a licensee determine that an LAR would not be submitted prior to May 31, 2006, the licensee must submit within 60 days of the date of the generic letter, a description of the actions taken through a tube inspection program to assure tube integrity.
South Carolina Electric & Gas Company (SCE&G) acting for itself and as agent for South Carolina Public Service Authority, hereby submits the following in response to Option 1 of the Requested Information of the generic letter.
Summary of Commitments SCE&G makes the following commitment in regards to Generic Letter 2006-01:
SCE&G has initiated development of a LAR to modify the SG portion of the VCS;NS TS consistent with TSTF-449, Revision 4. SCE&G will submit this LAR for NRC review and approval prior to May 31, 2006.
