Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station Response to NRC Generic Letter 2006-01, "Steam Generator Tube Integrity and Associated Technical Specifications" Ladies and Gentlemen:

This letter provides information in response to Generic Letter 2006-01, "Steam Generator Tube Integrity and Associated Technical Specifications," dated January 20, 2006. The generic letter requested a response that contains information requested in either of two options. The FirstEnergy Nuclear Operating Company (FENOC) intends to comply with the "Option 1" approach. Accordingly, FENOC will submit a license amendment application by May 31, 2006.

This application will propose to amend the Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station Technical Specifications to be consistent with Technical Specification Task Force (TSTF)-449, "Steam Generator Tube Integrity," Revision 4. In accordance with the provisions of the Generic Letter, if this commitment is modified such that the license amendment application is not submitted by May 31, 2006, FENOC will provide the information requested in "Option 2" within 60 days of the commitment change.

A list of the regulatory commitments made in this letter is included in Enclosure 1.
